TeejLab API Security and Governance Foundations Course

The API Security and Governance Foundations course is a self-paced, 12‑hour course developed in collaboration with TeejLab and SecurityStudio Academy. Learners gain hands-on experience with the TeejLab API Discovery platform while exploring the evolution of APIs, security frameworks, legal considerations, and modern governance practices. Overview

APIs are the backbone of today’s digital economy, yet they introduce complex risks across security, privacy, and governance. The API Security and Governance Foundations course equips professionals with the knowledge and tools to address these challenges head-on.

Developed in partnership with TeejLab and SecurityStudio Academy, this comprehensive program blends expert-led knowledge with practical exercises and real-world case studies. Learners will explore:

The Evolution of APIs — from early foundations to their role in today’s digital ecosystems
API Security Fundamentals — including OWASP Top 10, attack patterns, breaches, and defense strategies
Legal and Regulatory Frameworks — rights, responsibilities, licensing, and monetization considerations for API stakeholders
Automated Governance — strategies for managing shadow, zombie, and rogue APIs with intelligence and automation

Course Length

The API Security and Governance Foundations course consists of approximately 12 hours of educational content within our learning management system. Time invested learning from other resources and within the TeejLab Discovery platform is additional and unique to each learner. Students are expected to complete the online course and all related homework to receive the certificate of completion and 12 hours CPE credit.

Course Cost

The cost of the course is $800/student. This includes the API Security and Governance Foundations Course curriculum (in our online learning management system), an Individual user license in the TeejLab API Discovery platform, additional resources necessary to complete the course assignments and support via Office Hours and email.

Experience Requirements

There is no prerequisite for the API Security and Governance Foundations Course, and technical expertise is NOT required. Familiarity with data privacy and security principles are helpful; however, we’ll do our best to teach these during the course, along with links to other resources.

There is no exam at the end of the course. A Certificate of Completion and CPE credit of 12 hours will be awarded at the time of completion.
